My name is Jamie Williams, and I am a retired Fire Chief from Barstow Fire Department. I grew up in the City of Barstow and its where I began my Fire Service career in 1998 as a paid-call firefighter. While serving the many communities around my hometown and from my experiences, lead me to pursue a career as a full-time firefighter with the Barstow Fire Department. I’ve had the privilege to enjoy a diverse career, including executive leadership and management experiences in rural and municipal fire service communities. I’ve held various positions in the Fire Service to include Firefighter, Engineer, Fire Captain, and Fire Chief. I retired after 25 years of service serving as the Fire Chief of my hometown.
I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Service Administration and Strategic Leadership. In addition, I’ve completed certifications to include Executive Fire Chief Officer, Chief Fire Officer, Emergency Management, and various ICS and FEMA certifications.
Over my career, I have personally endured failures and successes. My experiences have provided me a working knowledge of common areas candidates struggle with both in the hiring process and their careers. My name is Mark Hernandez, and I am a Fire Captain/Paramedic on the Hazardous Materials Team. I have worked for Anaheim Fire & Rescue for over 21 years and promoted through the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, to Captain. My career started as a Fire Explorer at the age of 17. Shortly after I became a Reserve Firefighter, and simultaneously worked as an Ambulance Operator prior, to getting hired with AF&R. Throughout my career, I have been engaged in various program development and implementation, specialties, and promotional exams. From my personal challenges, successes, and failures, I have learned what aids in a successful career. I have a bachelor’s degree in human services from California State University Fullerton. During my tenure as the Project Manager for the Career and Life Planning Center at Fullerton College, I provided formal workshops and one on one counseling for resume writing and interview skills.

Tiffany Atalla (MFT #4788) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA, ID, and NV) with over 18 years of professional experience that includes licensure, certifications, and specific training to treat first responders and their families.
Tiffany earned a B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Marriage Family and Child Counseling from the University of San Diego. She started her career working within the community for a juvenile diversion program with the sheriff’s department, programs with Child Protective Services, in collaboration with Code Enforcement and the Fire Marshall for hoarding and mental health issues and on the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team. During the 40 hours a week in a police unit, Tiffany learned a great deal about the needs of the law enforcement community and gained valuable hands-on emergency response experience.
She has developed First Responder mental health education that has been implemented throughout the nation, established social media and in person support groups/organizations for the first responder community, is heavily involved with running first responder couples/individual retreats, and is diverse in utilizing animal assisted therapy to include a certified Canine for Companions (CCI) service dog for in person therapy and a licensed Polyvagal Equine Institute Professor, EAGALA Certified Equine Assisted Psychotherapist for the First Responder Optimum Resilience program with horses. She has held various positions throughout the industry to include therapist, clinical supervisor of associates, clinical director, director of training, etc. Tiffany is a first responder wife and mother, who has personal experience with the stresses and challenges the lifestyle entails. Tiffany is a well-respected mental health professional in the first responder community who has established her knowledge, experience, and expertise to help through a wide spectrum of modalities. Tiffany is available to aid in overcoming whatever obstacles you are faced with from: relational issues, mental health stressors, family discord, to test and performance anxiety. As a Master Accelerated Resolution Therapist, she has tools that work quickly to reprocess negative experience and future prepare for best outcomes.
